Location

Anchorage View is situated fronting on to the A496 main road in to Barmouth from the direction of Dolgellau along the picturesque Mawddach Estuary. The slightly elevated situation provides magnificent views to the front across the Mawddach Estuary towards the Cader Idris range of mountains, Barmouth viaduct and towards the west over the harbour and out to sea.

Barmouth (an Anglicised name) is a coastal harbour town with a maritime history related to the wool trade, boat building and fishing. Its proper name Y Bermo (in Welsh) is still affectionately used by locals, whilst some more modern signs also refer to its other Welsh name Abermaw. It is situated on the Cambrian Coast just beyond the fringe of the Snowdonia National Park. Local public footpaths provide access to outstanding natural scenery and Cardigan Bay provides vast beaches and a spectacular coastline. Barmouth has a very picturesque harbour, lifeboat and a good range of shops, public houses and restaurants. There is now a modern leisure centre, public park with tennis courts and doctor’s surgery. The town has a rail link to other coastal towns and the Midlands.

As well as friends and relatives visiting the property, it has been used for holiday lets and has been registered for business rates and is currently subject to small business rate relief which means no charge.  Prospective purchasers should make their own enquiries about future elegibility for this with Gwynedd Council as is will be dependent on what use they want to put the property to.  The property is therefore not currently banded for council tax.
